Today Moneen and Alexisonfire came into the offices for lunch. After lunch the boys in Moneen decided to play a little prank on Wayne Pighini. Kenny went into the bathroom and put on a toilet paper diaper and we told Wayne to go into Rich’s office to discuss business. Little did he know he was about to get taped to a half naked man. Well, I suppose the video speaks for itself.
I was a bit curious after Chase blogged about Lily Allen a little while back, and since then I’ve seen her name pop up in a few other places. So today when Stereogum posted this video I checked her out. She’s not an amazing singer there’s definitely something honest and cool about her music.

Had a little bit of a Hold Steady weekend this weekend. Started off Saturday we had Sushi with Tad, Franz, the film crew, and Sean-Michael before the show. Beer and Saki flowed like water, it was pretty amazing. The show, well the show was probably one of the best shows I’ve been to in a really long time.
Here’s a clip I shot during “The Swish” when Galen just opened a wallet (I still dont know if it was HIS wallet) and started throwing cash to the crowd.
Back to the hotel with everyone afterwords and we spent the rest of the evening drinking and talking about music.
Tad Showed off the tattoo that Henry of Chunklet Magazine paid for…

…. then Franz and my buddy Ryan had a Moustache competition. Franz won.

Sunday was the in store at Fingerprints. I was really tired and hungover so I’m glad this one was early in the evening. I grabbed this video of “Your Little Hoodrat Friend” It’s not the whole song unfortunately. But man their acoustic set is awesome.
Tonight is the sold out Troubadour show, and then I say goodbye to the Hold Steady until October 30th in Boston. Can’t wait.
I have a lot of respect for Shepard Fairey I think he has an amazing eye for graphics and type. He’s done an amazing Job at creating a brand for Obey. The Pretty Vacant poster kind of annoyed me, i mean how hard is it to reprint a classic Jamie Reid Sex Pistols design and just change it around a little? But i thought “it’s such an obvious rip that it’s just really a tribute.” etc..
However, this site kinda bummed me out
such direct rip offs from such a current designer.. just .. weak.
Sure you can find the reference materials for almost any shep poster. But most of the time his appropriation is totally awesome. However the stuff with fuct, is well…. fucked. I still like shep though. At least he’s putting stuff up on the streets that is provacative, and nice to look at at the same time.
Walked around Sunset Junction for a bit on Sunday, snapped some more pictures of hand painted signs. Everything from the amazingly talented Secret Headquarters gilded window, to the super ghetto dry cleaner wall. Amazing stuff. These were 4 of my favorites.
Also took a picture of my favorite piece Banksy has done in Los Angeles. This one is on Melrose right across from the Urban Outfitters. Pretty Awesome.
