Final cover for The Night Marchers
I think that when something you designed gets tattooed on someone you’ve officially “made it.” Check it out, the new Dashboard Confessional album “The Shade Of Poison Trees” that I designed has been permanently marked on someone’s arm. I dig it

I’m gonna go out a limb and say that the only holiday that I think is more pointless and lame than Halloween is Valentine’s Day. I think I’ve had one good Valentine’s and that wasn’t because of the day but because of the girl I was in love with. If you buy into this holiday, you suck. I agree with These Guys, okay well not really but I like their style.

right on brother.

Two rejected print ideas (too many colors) for a Love themed print exchange I participated in a few years ago that I eventually used as headers on old LJ blog posts.

This one’s for fans of skateboarding, art, and music. Thrasher has posted the first 12 issues of their magazine from 1981 online in high resolution JPG and PDF format. And not just highlights either, everything! Including the ads! Why Am I Yelling?! I guess I’m just excited. Link. (via BoingBoing)
Just swung by BLK/MRKT gallery in Culver City for the Jeff Soto opening. I managed to snap a few (not so great) pictures of some of my favorite pieces. The show’s going to be there for a month, I highly reccomend you Southern Californians go and check it out. Oh yeah I snapped a picture of the Tara McPherson poster in the bathroom too, because her art is amazing and I have like a ridiculously big crush on her. The last shot is before it started getting really packed in the gallery.

I have a lot of respect for Shepard Fairey I think he has an amazing eye for graphics and type. He’s done an amazing Job at creating a brand for Obey. The Pretty Vacant poster kind of annoyed me, i mean how hard is it to reprint a classic Jamie Reid Sex Pistols design and just change it around a little? But i thought “it’s such an obvious rip that it’s just really a tribute.” etc..
However, this site kinda bummed me out
such direct rip offs from such a current designer.. just .. weak.
Sure you can find the reference materials for almost any shep poster. But most of the time his appropriation is totally awesome. However the stuff with fuct, is well…. fucked. I still like shep though. At least he’s putting stuff up on the streets that is provacative, and nice to look at at the same time.
Walked around Sunset Junction for a bit on Sunday, snapped some more pictures of hand painted signs. Everything from the amazingly talented Secret Headquarters gilded window, to the super ghetto dry cleaner wall. Amazing stuff. These were 4 of my favorites.
Also took a picture of my favorite piece Banksy has done in Los Angeles. This one is on Melrose right across from the Urban Outfitters. Pretty Awesome.

Here’s a link to a little before and after photoshop work. It’s kind of a departure from the stuff you’ll see in my portfolio. And I find people LOVE seeing the pre touched up photos compared with the public version. So there you go
