The best part about sober February is you can start drinking again on my birthday, the 29th, because that’s not really February anyway. We’re only two and a half weeks from the start of Sober February 2kDozen. You might be surprised to learn that actually looking forward to it.
I had a big realization about it the other day. Not drinking is easy. Duh. None of us are alcoholics, at least not yet. The reason Sober February is great is because it helps you realize why you drink. Or more specifically why you enjoy drinking enough to think you can’t stop for a little while. In my case I use it as an excuse to be social. It’s a crutch that I lean on to get out of the house and having fun. So all of February I push myself to be as social and fun as I normally would be, only without relying on drinking to make it happen.
I’m looking for people that are participating this year. It’s starting to grow and I’d really like to try and make it a full fledged novelty movements like “Mo-vember” or “the 4th of July”. If you’re participating, read up on it and send me an email and let know why you’re doing it.
