50 Of The Most Important Influential Albums Of All Time Ever
(completely limited to my strange taste in music, please dont ask my why I didn’t include The Rolling Stones)
Okay this is a new thing I’ll be doing for my amusement. I’m going to be posting a song from an album I love, giving it an arbitrary number and writing a little bit about why I love it. This list holds no weight at all other than the fact that it comes from my music collection. My musical taste evolution from childhood to adulthood goes as follows Beatles>Aerosmith>British & Los Angeles 1st Wave Punk>90’s East Bay and Orange County Punk>Lo-Fi Garage & Norweigan Rock & Roll.. and after that I just kinda listen to whatever grabs my attention. Along the way I had friends who turned me on to bits of Hardcore, Emo, Dance, etc.. but for the most part I stuck exploring all those genres one by one. So that kinda explains why I will pick the albums I pick. And like I said… don’t get mad if you see a glaring omission, just start your own list.
50. Rocket From The Crypt - “Used” from Scream Dracula Scream.
I saw Rocket do an in store at a large record chain around the time this record came out in 1995 and it blew my little punk rock mind. “Horns aren’t just for ska bands? Well fuck me!” This was the only RFTC record I owned for years and still holds up as their most solid in my opinion. Years later working for Vagrant I got to attend their last show ever in San Diego and then design the packaging for the CD/DVD release. While opening discussion for the design with lead singer John Reis via email he signed his first reply to me “Stay Horny - John” The fan boy in me squealed “aweeeesome.” John Reis is a class act.
