Jets To Brazil - Sweet Avenue live 5-13-1998 Black Cat DC (via boywithstars)It took me YEARS to appreciate Jets to Brazil. I saw Jawbreaker when i was 14 or 15 on the Dear You tour and it was easily one of the best shows I had ever seen in my life. A room so full of energy that I’ve only experienced a hand full of times. A few years later and I go to the troubadour to see Jets to Brazil. Orange Rhyming Dictionary was not in stores yet but they were selling vinyl at the show (remember when records had no way to “leak” and songs weren’t streaming months before a record was released?) So I bought it and went inside and eagerly awaited to be blown away, only to get… this. Don’t get me wrong, this is one of my favorite songs ever, but at the time I was PISSED. I listened to the record a few times and gave up on it until a few years later. Maturity maybe, maybe enough time had just passed for the feeling of betrayal to wear off. Who knows. If The Promise Ring hadn’t been so good that night I would have asked for my money back. I am glad Jawbreaker broke up at the peak rather than fading away. I can’t wait to hear Blake’s next project.
